The first time, your system will warn you.

DANASA Studio isn't code-signed yet: the Apple and Microsoft certificates are unbought. That says nothing about the program — the file is the one we build — but it does make the system ask before opening it. You answer once and it stops asking.

On Mac

  1. Open the .dmg and drag DANASA Studio into your Applications folder.
  2. Open it once. macOS won't: it will say Apple could not verify it is free of malware, which is what it says about any unsigned app. Close the warning and don't move it to the Trash.
  3. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down to Security and click “Open Anyway”. Confirm with “Open”.

On Windows

  1. Run the installer. Windows will show a blue screen saying it protected your PC.
  2. Click “More info” and then “Run anyway”.

What the app does.

  • Print-grade typography.

Knuth-Plass composition, with orphans, widows and rivers flagged as you work. The app points them out; the last word on the text is yours.

  • Hyphenation in ten languages.

Spanish, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Catalan, Galician, Dutch and Latin: every language breaks words where that language breaks them.

  • A PDF ready for the press.

Embedded fonts, margins validated for the trim size you pick and a cover spine worked out from the page count.

Once the book is laid out.

Publishing it on DANASA carries no platform commission. Do it from the app itself or upload the PDF here, and you set the price.
